Contentious Probate Solicitor (5+ years PQE)

Law Firms don’t solve problems, people do. We are looking for exceptional people to join us.

At TW we believe there’s more to the law than technical excellence. TW is growing in size and reputation and we are keen to onboard enthusiastic and exceptional people who are thoughtful, determined and intuitive and who bring individual personality and a positive outlook. Our growing reputation means that people are seeking us out, knocking on the door because they want to move from other Law Firms to join us or coming back to us after they have left because they love working with us. That says a lot!

Individual players, one team.

We are brave and ambitious, vibrant and diverse. Our culture is supportive, with a sense of togetherness at all levels, working hard but always finding time to have fun. We constantly strive to do better and actively consult people for their ideas and give people the opportunity to grow. We have committed to hybrid working for all roles that can be done remotely and are open to flexible hours and office base. In addition we have launched a “You Day” initiative that means that people can compress their contractual hours into 9 days and take the 10th day for themselves. All staff also benefit from life assurance, generous annual leave arrangements, perks and discounts from major retailers, bonuses and Private Medical Insurance from Vitality which includes discounted gym memberships, fitness trackers and spas (plus much more).

Who are we looking for?

As part of our specialist Litigation Team this is a fee earning role requiring a proven track record in providing quality legal advice and assistance to clients along with being commercially astute. This role will ideally suit a lawyer, 5-7 years PQE, with a solid foundation in contentious trusts and probate disputes.

With the ability to handle a busy caseload the role holder will need to demonstrate experience in contentious probate matters which might include

  • Contesting the validity of Wills
  • Inheritance disputes
  • Trustee disputes
  • Estate disputes

Having an understanding of the tax considerations related to these would be advantageous. The role holder will be required to effectively manage cases through to successful resolution with minimum supervision and will work closely with our Private Client teams in building a caseload. The ability to develop existing and new client relationships is a must. The department is growing and is an integral part of the future plans for Thackray Williams. As such enthusiasm for business development and marketing is a must, in line with the strategic business plans of the department and the wider firm.

If you are exceptional in your field with a minimum of 5 years PQE, we want to hear from you. Our standards are high, and that has helped us to create a sustainable and profitable firm. So, if you have a “can do attitude”, like to go the extra mile for your colleagues and your clients, can evidence that you are committed, loyal and excellent at what you do, please send a CV and covering letter to [email protected] explaining how you stand out from the crowd and what it is about TW that makes you want to work here. We look forward to hearing from you.
